ClearhaZe is Marty “11:11” ClearhaZe

Marty is a reggae/pop/lovesong recording artist and stage performer.

He is a guitarist/singer/songwriter with skills in pop music, reggae and lovesongs. With those being his “specialty styles”, he has also does genres including funk, dance, soul, neo-soul, light jazz, and R&B.

Marty generally performs as a solo artist or in a duet with a female singer, but he occasionally performs with a full band or small musical groups. His love for recording great lovesongs, pop and reggae songs in the studio is documented in his large library of recordings produced over the years.

Time To Wish” was Marty's first completed DEMO. It contains great songs like “Love So Right”, “Enough Respect”, “Sharing Takes” and “Rhea’s Revenge”.

The “The Dowhatyado Project” was Marty’s 2nd recording project completed in 1993 as a signed artist for his 1st recording contract as a solo artist with a private investor. Although the material was never promoted nor released, it contains great original songs like “Shooting Star”, “Get Away Greed”, “Bad Seed”, and others.

"Dear Dread" is Marty's 3rd recording project. It is a completed 14 song cd which was produced in 1999 during his 2nd recording contract with a small independent label. It is a well produced/engineered cd with a “radio ready” quality full of great ballads, reggae and pop songs. To sample songs on this site you can hear songs like "Enough Respect", “Love So Right”, "Magic Trick" and others.

Marty’s music partner “Black Squirrel” is a surgeon who incorporates his medical skills/precision into his music production/recordings. The label, Del Geo, that signed Marty and “Black Squirrel” to produce Dear Dread dubbed the project “Surgeon and the Madman” and did so since Marty is usually telling “bad jokes” that are sometimes only funny to him, but he loves to make people laugh and has a never ending sense of humor and creativity.

Marty's 4th recording project is a DEMO called "The 9 Mile Project".
It is a tribute cd to Bob Marley and all the songs were written with a theme relating to Bob Marley's personal life and music career. The songs were also written as if to “get into the mind and songwriting style” of Bob. To sample songs on this site you can hear songs like "Carry The Swing", "I Feel Jah" and others. All songs were written primarily by “BM” aka Diamond Dave, co written by Marty and performed/recorded by Marty and “Black Squirrel”.

Marty’s 5th music recording project is untitled and in Pro Tools production now. It includes his song “Make Things Sweeter” and his best original and cover songs. It is being produced with his long time music partner, the “Black Squirrel”.

Generally, Marty's songwriting themes are about love, political injustice, greed, and classic/epic stories retold in song form. Such as the story “The Maelstrom” by Edgar Allen Poe, now adapted in Marty’s song “The Storm”. “Rhea’s Revenge” is based on the story of King Zues, but focuses on Rhea, Zues’s Mother. His song “Devil’s Pool” is based on an Australian epic lovestory legend about an actual landmark called Devil’s Pool in Australia.

His music heroes are Bob Marley, John Lennon, Sade and Sting. Marty does not take himself or his music skills too serious like many ego maniac singers, songwriters, and musicians and he strives constantly to be a “purist” as a musician. His interest in music is to always do “what’s right for the song” when writing, performing or recording. And ‘songs’ / song development / song arrangements / song performances are the most important things in his life, along with family, friends…and Krispy Kreme donuts.

Marty cares about spreading laughter and good vibes and is interested in making a positive impact with his music and hopes to "make a difference" by educating people about the importance of nurturing creativity and "creative intelligence".

Marty is a former “Dead Head” who essentially started writing songs and playing guitar while staying at a shelter called the “Covenant House” in NY City in 1981. Marty originally used the time “11:11” as an artist, but found a group in Jersey using the name. So he adopted Clear Haze as his artist name. He still uses 11:11 as a logo and feels he has a connection with the time 11:11 and number 11. The name ClearhaZe’s meaning; a metaphor for life - For most of us, if not all of us, our lives will have many memorable experiences, sometimes they are very “hazy” experiences and sometimes they are quite “clear”!

Marty’s professional goals are to continue writing, performing and recording great songs. To work on studio recording projects and do great “live” performances.

He is always looking for other music projects to play and/or sing with in the studio or on stage. Also to perform solo gigs as a reggae, pop and lovesong singer, guitarist for private parties, special events, etc. Marty is also seeking multi media projects to record music for film, tv, video games, etc.
